Dr. Donald J. DeBrakeleer D.O. FACOG
Education: Dr. De Brakeleer graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Hahnemann University Hospital where he graduated with numerous awards, recognizing his excellent patient care and surgical skills. While at Hahnemann, Dr. DeBrakeleer had the opportunity to work with very accomplished and experienced pelvic surgeons and urologists. This led to his interest in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. (formerly known as Urogynecology) He has continued that education and practice over the 19 years of his professional career. In 2012, the American Board of Medical Specialties decided to recognize experts in this field with sub-specialty certification. The first sub-specialty Board Exam was offered in 2013 and Dr. DeBrakeleer was accepted as a candidate and passed the exam, joining the inaugural class of sub-specialists in this field. In 2007, Dr. DeBrakeleer enhanced this expertise by obtaining more specialized training in cosmetic gynecology with Dr. David Matlock. Dr. DeBrakeleer is among a select number of surgeons to have this background, training and ability to offer Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation and Reduction Labioplasty in the United States.
Certification: Dr. DeBrakeleer is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a certified sub-specialist in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. DeBrakeleer is also an active member and presenter in the American Urogynecological Society and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Dr. DeBrakeleer is a professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medince. He is also an active member of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association.
Areas of Expertise: Pelvic reconstructive surgery, urogynecology, cosmetic gynecology, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic and bladder pain issues, revision of “botched” episiotomies, labioplasty, and vaginal rejuvenation.
